I posted this message to the Yahoo website if anyone wants to answer there, also.
When Barry was young, he was good-looking out of proportion to the others of that era. Is it possible that any of the studios (wanting to cash in on his appeal to the youth) might have cast him in one, or more pilots?
Is it possible that there could be lost footage of Barry tucked away in some studio archives? Wouldn't it be wonderful if some rare find like this could come to light!

Roberta,
We're very much on our own with this. I recently read a film historian found long-lost footage of Marlon Brando's screentest for Rebel Without A Cause (I might be incorrect about the film title here) there are other iconic legends whose work has been either lost or forgotten because records were not kept. This is one of the reasons why research is so addictive, you just never know what you might find and even with our busy lives (speaking for myself) the Internet has made it easier to research, even with having a full-time job and responsibilities of a family to look after - I am so glad I have my laptop or else I just wouldn't have the time.
Another good source of research is eBay - can you really believe people kept their copies of 1970s TV guides, amazing, never throw anything out.
I know how much Barry's career meant to him, it was his whole life and I accept he is gone, but that doesn't mean his dreams have, this may sound obsessive but fan worship does strange things to people. I'm not sure if I'll still be doing this when I'm 60 - I hope so. I wouldn't do it if I didn't think he wasn't worth it. But, at least I'm not alone and for now it's back to reality for a bit, shopping etc. normal routine but I will return later.....
