Barry Brown has no doubt been this HUGE influence on me. I can't stress it enough how on just a basic, and day to day basis, I look past my nose and beyond because of him. He's quite frankly mellowed me out like no one's business!! My mom even noticed the big change in me. Not quite the savage snippet I was, thanks to him. The man just brings out the best in me. Wow!
I was with Artie Shaw and my snobbery against jazz vocalists, he and I both just stuck with Billie Holiday. Well of course her, but I've been turned on, big time, by the likes of Peggy Lee and my brother Michael and I are hooked. How could I have been so blind and missed such a bluesy/ beautiful singer before? Music, and finding artisits I like/ love is incredibly dear to me so this means a lot, to get a recommendation from reading about his likes. Before I wouldn't have given her the time of day, I kid you not. Thanks to B tho, I'm buying her music off Amazon and am going to listen to her in the car on my way up to San Fran this July....I think Barry would heartily approve.

Which is your favourite? Ironically, I read somewhere recently that Barry Brown's favourite Peggy Lee song was the same as mine: the fatalistic "Is That All There Is?"
